ASTM D3039/D3039M Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Polymer Matrix Composite Materials

By this test method the in-plane tensile properties of polymer matrix composite materials reinforced by high-modulus fibers may be determined.

This test method is useful to determine tensile property data needed for research and development, quality control, structural design and analysis, and for material specifications. The properties which may be obtained in the test direction include:

• Ultimate Tensile Strength
• Ultimate Tensile Strain
• Tensile Chord Modulus of Elasticity
• Poisson's Ratio
• Transition Strain
